Nagaland CM call for accurate data

Our CorrespondentKohima | May 29Nagaland Chief Minister Dr Neiphiu Rio on Friday stressed that active public participation is crucial for ensuring accurate data in the Census India 2027. “As Nagaland joins the rest of India in preparing for the Census India 2027, active public participation is essential to ensure accurate data, fair representation, and informed planning for our state's development,” Dr Rio posted on ‘X’. “Let us support a Census that reflects our people and progress,” he added. According to reports, the 2027 Census in Nagaland will be conducted in two phases. Phase 1, the House Listing and Housing Census, begins with self-enumeration from June 16 to June 30, 2026, followed by house-to-house fieldwork from July 1 to July 30, 2026. This phase collects data on housing conditions, amenities, and household assets, and provides the framework for Phase 2. Phase 2, Population Enumeration, is scheduled for February 2027, with September 2026 reserved for snow-bound areas. A five-day revisional round for self-enumeration will also be conducted. This phase gathers data on demographic, socio-cultural, and economic parameters, including migration and fertility characteristics.
